The Little Welly Festival, Wellington Country Park – 21st to 23rd December 2013

The Little WellyA brand new family friendly Christmas experience will launch later this year. The Little Welly is a festival created especially for children between the ages of three and twelve. The very first event in the series will be held at Wellington Country Park, Berkshire between 21st and 23rd December 2013.

The inaugural Little Welly Festival is Christmas themed and will feature a wide range of entertainment, stalls and activities for the whole family to enjoy. From just £22.50 for an all inclusive ticket, the event promises to be great value for money and is packed with fun ideas for kids.

The organisers of The Little Welly said, “We are creating a festival concept for the entire family to enjoy; where kids and grownups can have fun, try some new things and spend quality time together. This will be an event that is innovative and imaginative with an emphasis on the local community.”

No Christmas festival would be complete without Santa’s Grotto, and Father Christmas himself will be there in attendance, handing out presents to the kids. There will also be an ice rink where the parents and children can strap on skates and show off their moves, as well as five ‘big top’ tents each with their own style of entertainment.

The Show Tent will be hosted by up-and-coming TV presenter Ben Hunte and will feature performances such as The Garlic Theatre’s ‘There’s A Monster In My Piano,’ demonstrations from CBBC’s Fran Scott entitled ‘Science Misadventures; Daring Demos and Science Stunts’ along with Jessie J and Katy Perry tribute acts.

In The Skills Tent, children will have a chance to turn their hand to a selection of fun activities under the watchful eyes of a series of handpicked experts. There will be football coaching, circus skills, drum workshops (held by drumming world record holder Ed Freitas) and dance lessons with local dance teacher Leanne McNulty.

The Activity Tent is the place to burn off a bit of energy and get involved in action such as the penalty shootout, the graffiti wall, giant inflatables and den building, or if they are feeling creative they can go to the Arts and Crafts Tent to write letters to Santa, make decorations or test their prowess at flying their paper aeroplanes on the specially made runway. When it’s time to relax, there is also a Chill Out tent where tired kids and adults can go to watch classic cartoons or listen to the storyteller.

A catering tent will be on hand and full to bursting with tasty winter warmers, hot and cold drinks for the kids and locally sourced beers and wines for the parents.

For those shopping for last minute gifts, market stalls full of beautiful stocking stuffers will be dotted throughout.

The festival itself takes place across a sprawling 20 acre site and as well as the big tops and stalls, the organisers plan to make use of this space by creating an ‘Enchanted Forest’ complete with a treasure trail and a recreation of The North Pole.
